When it comes to the Internet and your kids don’t leave anything to chance. The problem with regard to the internet is been increasing every minute.

In an interview with Jace Galloway (internet safety advisor), the top five threats online includes:

Electronic bullying

Social networking sites

Pornography

Sexual predators

Lack of knowledge

In present day’s scenario we cannot imagine a teen’s life without internet and mobile phones.

Electronic bullying is the bullying done by the usage of electronic gadgets like cell phones, computer in the form of text messages, videos, images etc

Social networking sites act as a platform for children to interact with people where they may get involved with too many strangers and the chances of leakage of personal information are very high.

Many children come across Pornography which they had not intended to view. This disturbs the child and they develop behavioral changes.

Sexual predators target the children and they first aim at winning the child’s trust over them through IM or chatting. Then they slowly introduce sexual materials and encourage children to perform such acts.

The reason behind all the above mentioned threats is the lack of awareness among both children and parents. Many parents give the reason as not being aware technically or the problem is as very serious.

We have a variety of filtering and blocking devices available in the market which enables the parents to block certain sites or creating an online environment by bookmarking sites for toddlers.

These are though efficient, we have problems like they are not fully trustable or may even lead to blocking of certain sites which may be helpful .In order to avoid these complexities its safe to educate kids regarding the problems which they may face online.

It’s very difficult to create a danger free environment for our children as the chances of them getting exposed to these potential threats may not always be under parental guidance.

Why is it important to secure wireless networks?

Wireless networks are also known as wi-fi networks which allow the computers to interact with one another using radio signals.

Due to this it is easy to access for others to access in range and pick up the signal or transmit on the same frequency. The wireless networks are at the following risks:

Hacking: Anyone in range can connect to the network and can hack the laptops.

Another concern is bridged connections, between either two wireless networks or a wireless and a wired network. Bridged connections allow for the possibility of hackers to tunnel back over an insecure connection into a possibly secure connection of a particular company.

Eavesdropping: Listening to the information as it is transmitted over the air. This suggests the need for encryption.

Freeloading: The chances of unauthorized users using the connection without your knowledge are high. The confidential mails and documents are at risk.

Protecting wireless networks:

Though we have encryption and access points in wi-fi systems, it varies from one manufacturer to another. We have to follow these precautions:
